What about magpiebrain?

Posted on Jan 29 2015

Some of you may have previously read my blog over at Magpiebrain, a site I've been blogging at off and on for over ten years. My plan is that all new content I write will be hosted here, but I do plan to migrate the old magpiebrain content over here at some point.

This new site is a statically generated site, built using middleman and hosted on AWS S3. The static nature of this setup appeals to me. There is much less to go wrong, it's cheaper to host, and much cheaper to scale too (assuming I ever reach a wide audience!). After many years of headaches running wordpress websites, I'm sold! Magpiebrain is a wordpress site though (actually hosted at wordpress.com), so I'll need to find some time to export the content and pull it in here, and set up the redirects. Working out how to read the wordpress export format, images included, and pull it into a middleman-friendly format, should be a fun project!

But in the meantime if you want to get new updates from me, this is the blog to follow. Now that the book is out of the way I plan to get back to blogging more reguarly.
